Sex.

Sex. It's been on my mind. As a mother, how do I tell my son about this 3 letter word? Do I show him the Bible, give him a box of condom, or show random pictures of STDs? I want to do more than that. I have a desire to teach him to respect women. Respect what they have. Respect their words. Respect how they carry themselves. Never ever pressure a woman into something. I want him to care about her as a person 1st and not the skin she wears. At lunch today a coworker mentioned the girls these days are aggressive young ones. Now, I'm thinking, how can I teach my son to respect her and most importantly, himself? It's one of the biggest things you can carry within yourself. It will take you places and help you grow as a human. As a mother, I want him to have respect for himself. I am just trying to navigate where to start with teaching him such a powerful force at such a young age. Somehow trying to find the map to that road.

Venting. Thoughts. Wonders.

I have not posted anything on this page for years. Clearly. I decided to start it up again with all my thoughts. A place to vent, share, and think. Enjoy.

Our Getaway

Dave and I decided to take a vacation. This trip was planned very last minute and we were on a tight budget. We were hoping for the best and decided to go to Vegas, Zion, then Lake Powell. We made many stops on the way and enjoyed "adventure exploring" which consists of checking random things out that you normally wouldn't notice. Due to our tight budget, we stayed in cheap hotels and camped. It was fun not knowing where you were going to sleep that night and seeing where you end up. We ate at McDonalds countless times, the same pizza restaurant two nights in a row due to the low cost, had nutri gran, life cereal, and other random snack foods for lunch. We were always on the hunt for rocks. Yes, rocks. We brought home a bunch of rocks, including our new salt lamp, which we love. Its said that the heat from the light within the salt releases ions. These ions are claimed to help relax, and calm all who enter the atmosphere. Lovely! We hope these pictures from our trip can also take you somewhere else. Perhaps… a small getaway and feeling relaxed too.

Vacation Kick Off: Seeing Coldplay Live

This was our birthday gift to each other. One of their lyrics says, “Now your feet wont touch the ground” (Strawberry Swing) and its surely how we felt.

Summer has come: Wild Rivers!

Sin City

Dave and Rikki-

Our...interesting/creepy/tacky...room-

To be honest, Sin City is not really a place for me (Jen). Too many freaky people (seriously...have you really looked around?) and its stinky. I love looking at the architecture and the creativity found all around you. The rest of it just gets on my nerves. However, we met up with some of Dave's friends and we really did end up having a great time.

Zion...Zion....Zion:

We LOVED it. Simply loved it. Everyone should go there at least once in their lifetime and just be in awe of the scenery that is found there. The stones. The mountains. The colors. The beauty.... my goodness...the beauty!!!

Mi Casa Es Su Casa-

Exploring the beauty around us. Believe it or not, a lot of these pictures were taken from our iPhone in a moving car. Yep. Crazy little camera.

Last Stop: Lake Powell

Once again, beautiful! Dave and I have both been there before when we were teenagers. I went on a houseboat with my family there and Dave went with his buddies. It was neat to be able to talk about our memories there and make new ones on our own. We cant wait to go back again...

Random Stuff:

No road trip can be completed without....

At last! A few pictures of humans!

Yum...yum...and yum....

The sights...oh the joys of a road trip....

Heading home....

This blog cannot be completed without these films of Dave.

FLIP CRAZY!

Poster Cabaret

Recently I came across Poster Cabaret. Dave and I are trying to get more pictures/posters for our home. I am crazy about the artwork found on this website. Enjoy.

Cutesy!

I love the Toast catalogue from the UK. Cute stuff plus the name itself is wonderful! I am loving the tiffin tins!

Paint, paint, and more paint....

Dave calls this "The Experiment" since I simply could not (for weeks) find the right paint color for our hallway. It has to be just RIGHT. Finally, yesterday I found the color! Take a look at Dave's view when he arrived home. At last the perfect color....

Fairy Tale Wedding

Our wedding was really beautiful and every little thing about it was just right. Looking back, one of my favorite parts of the day is when Dave and I decided to sneak out with the photographer (who is amazing!) for a while. It was so neat taking pictures and walking around the park at night. I loved it. It was romantic, relaxing, and just wonderful to be with my new husband. I remember looking out into the bungalow on the lagoon where everyone was inside having a fun time and thinking "Oh my gosh! its real!" Here are some of my favorite pictures. Enjoy.
